Your kids can ca$h in on good report cards

My daughter got a pat on the back and a “Good job!” when she brought her report card home from school recently. But Limited Too and Krispy Kreme Doughnuts were a little more generous than good ole mom and dad.

Both companies offer kids with good report cards some pretty generous freebies.

At Limited Too, a clothing and accessories store that caters to the Tween girl crowd, the reward is a $5 credit — no strings attached, no minimum purchase required. This time around, after agonizing over her choices, my 10-year-old selected three large packages of candy. Last time around, she put the $5 toward a silky pair of p.j.’s that were on clearance.

And at Krispy Kreme, she earned herself six doughnuts, not to mention a hat, a balloon and a chance to watch the fattening gems being made and glazed in the Krispy Kreme kitchen, which can be seen from a giant glass window at the company’s downtown Raleigh, N.C., location. A better-than-cheap thrill.

These are the only two companies in our area that offer rewards for good grades — at least that I’ve been able to find. If you know of any others around the country, I’d love to hear from you. And as always, before packing the kids up and heading out, I’d call ahead to verify that the Limited Too or Krispy Kreme in your area are participating in the report card promotions. A note: Limited Too is being absorbed into the Justice chain so it will be interesting to see if the stores retain the report card giveaway.
