Earth Day freebies

17 04 2009

What better way to keep it green than to save some green?

Several companies are going to make that a little easier with some great freebies in honor of Earth Day. But don’t be fooled. While Earth Day is officially celebrated on Wednesday, April 22, a lot of these promotions start early.

Starting Sunday, April 19th:

*Home Depot will be giving away one million eco-friendly CFL bulbs and water-saving water faucet aerators in honor of Earth Day. Based on previous Earth Day giveaways, I would go early.

*Target will be giving away free reusable tote bags with any purchase, according to couponmom.com.

On Wednesday, April 22:

*Click here to find out about the “try-me-free” rebate on Reynold’s new 100% recycled aluminum foil. At exactly 4:22 a.m. on Earth Day (get it, 4:22 on 4/22), you will be able to download a rebate form to be reimbursed up to $3.99 for a box of recycled foil. You can sign up now for an email reminder. Pretty cool.

*Save 15% off your purchase or 20% off Walgreens products and Get a FREE reusable Bag at participating Walgreen stores, according to the folks over at afullcup.com. You may have to ask an employee for a coupon to receive this.

*Bring in three empty plastic bottles to recycle at a Disney Store and get a FREE gift, according to its website. Bloggers across the country differ on whether it will be a reusable water bottle or a tote.

*At Starbucks locations in Canada, bring in your own coffee mug to get a complimentary cup of Pike Place Roast coffee.

That’s all I’ve found surfing the web. I would LOVE to hear from you about any other Earth Day freebies.

Thanks, Carolyn! I can’t even imagine how long the line is going to be with all those hungry college students in Chapel Hill and Raleigh.
